Instructions for Sprouting:

To begin sprouting in a quart-sized jar, first place 1 1/2 tablespoons of seeds inside the jar. Screw on the fine mesh sprouting lid and fill the jar partially with warm water, avoiding hot water. Swirl the water around to clean the seeds, then pour it out. Refill the jar with warm water to cover the seeds about three times their depth and let them soak overnight in a location away from light to start the germination process.

After soaking, pour off the water and find a spot not exposed to direct sunlight. Prop the drained jar at an angle to allow excess water to drain out. Spread out the seeds in the jar by turning it and cover with the sprout jar lids and a dishtowel. Leave for 3 to 4 hours.

Rinse the sprouts with cool, fresh water 2 or 3 times each day until they are ready to eat or store in the refrigerator. As the sprouts begin to shed the seed hulls, let the water in the jar overflow with the hulls floating out through the sprouting lid screen. Turn the jar each time you rinse to spread out the seeds.

Transfer the sprouts into clean water in a pan or sink. Remove any remaining hulls that float to the surface, with others falling to the bottom. Gently shake off excess moisture from the sprouts, drain in a colander.
